  Conforms to ASTM C1460, ASTM C564 & CSA B602 — passes inspection

High Demand Item – Frequently Reordered by Contractors

Fernco Proflex is the all-stainless shielded transition coupling for dependable above-ground pipe connections. A flexible neoprene sleeve seals the joint while a full .012″ type 301 stainless steel shield and clamp bands lock it rigid — so the connection resists shear forces, vibration, and shifting that would loosen an unshielded coupling.

From 1-1/2″ to 2″, the 3001 series transitions cast iron, plastic or steel to copper above ground, with the same all-stainless shield and neoprene gasket as the rest of the Proflex line.

Applications

  • Above-ground transitions from cast iron, plastic or steel to copper
  • Copper DWV tie-ins on a rigid, shielded joint
  • Remodels and repairs joining copper to existing pipe
  • Commercial and residential plumbing needing a shielded copper transition

Key Features

  • Neoprene (synthetic rubber) gasket, marked with part number and application
  • .012″ type 301 stainless steel shield, 2.125″ wide
  • 301 stainless clamp band and housing; 305 stainless 5/16″ hex screw
  • Rigid, shear-resistant joint for above-ground transitions
  • Installs with a standard nut driver or torque wrench — no primers or glue

Best Used For

  • Above-ground DWV, sewer, waste and vent transitions
  • Connecting dissimilar pipe materials on a rigid, shear-resistant joint
  • Repairs and remodels where a banded coupling needs the strength of a shield
  • Commercial and residential plumbing where code calls for a shielded coupling

FAQ

What does the 3001 series connect?

Cast iron, plastic or steel on one side to copper (or smaller plastic) on the other — a clean above-ground transition to copper DWV.

Above ground or buried?

Proflex is for above-ground transitions. For buried, load-bearing joints use a Strong Back RC coupling.

How are sizes listed?

As the CI/plastic/steel size by the copper size — for example, 2″ × 1-1/2″ Copper connects 2″ cast iron, plastic or steel to 1-1/2″ copper.

Why Contractors Choose This

  • Full stainless shield holds the joint rigid where rubber-only couplings flex
  • One coupling makes a clean material transition above ground
  • No primers, glue or cure time
  • Code-listed: ASTM C1460, ASTM C564, CSA B602
  • Made in the USA, AIS & BABA compliant
