High Demand Item – Frequently Reordered by Contractors

The Fernco 1051 transitions asbestos-cement (AC) fibre or ductile iron pipe to cast iron or plastic — sized for the larger AC/ductile OD on one end and the cast iron/plastic OD on the other.

The elastomeric PVC sleeve resists chemicals, UV, and normal sewer gases, with 300-series stainless steel clamps. Sizes are listed AC/ductile side × cast iron/plastic side, stocked 4″ through 12″.

Applications

  • Transitioning asbestos-cement (AC) sewer pipe to cast iron or plastic
  • Connecting ductile iron to cast iron or plastic
  • Repairs and tie-ins on older AC sewer systems
  • Sewer and drain transitions above or below ground

Key Features

  • Elastomeric PVC sleeve — leak-proof, root-proof, resistant to chemicals, UV and sewer gases
  • Two 300-series stainless steel clamps, corrosion resistant and rustproof
  • Connects same or different pipe sizes and materials
  • Each coupling marked with part number, size, and compatible pipe materials
  • Made in the USA — sizes 15″ and below are AIS and BABA compliant

FAQ

How are the sizes listed?

AC/ductile side first, cast iron/plastic side second — for example, 6″ × 4″ connects 6″ AC or ductile iron to 4″ cast iron or plastic.

Working with asbestos cement?

Follow all applicable handling regulations when cutting or disturbing AC pipe. The coupling itself installs over the existing OD with stainless clamps.

Need a shielded version?

For buried joints under heavy load, see the Fernco 1051RC Strong Back shielded coupling.
