The Fernco 1006RC Strong Back is the shielded, heavy-duty concrete adapter — built to transition concrete sewer pipe to cast iron or plastic on buried joints that face heavy earth loads and shear. A .012″ stainless steel shear ring and molded-in bushing wrap the stepped PVC sleeve to hold the connection rigid and aligned.

Clamp housing and band are 301 stainless steel with 305 stainless screws. Spec the standard 1006 for everyday concrete tie-ins; spec the 1006RC when the joint is buried, carries load, or needs the alignment the steel shield provides. Sizes listed concrete side × CI/plastic side, 4″ through 15″.

How is this different from the standard 1006?
