High Demand Item – Frequently Reordered by Contractors

The Fernco 1006 is the concrete-adapter version of Fernco’s standard flexible coupling — sized to transition concrete sewer pipe to cast iron, plastic, or steel. The stepped sleeve takes the larger concrete outside diameter on one end and the smaller CI/plastic OD on the other for a watertight, no-hub joint with no primers or glue.

The sleeve is molded from elastomeric PVC that resists chemicals, UV, and normal sewer gases, locked down with 300-series stainless steel clamps. Sizes are listed concrete side × cast iron/plastic side. Stocked 4″ through 24″ in straight and reducing configurations.

Applications

  • Connecting concrete sewer pipe to cast iron, plastic or steel
  • Repairs and tie-ins on concrete sewer mains and laterals
  • Underground sewer and drain transitions
  • Reducing between a concrete size and a different CI/plastic size
  • Fast no-hub connections without primers, glue or solvent cement

Key Features

  • Stepped elastomeric PVC sleeve sized for concrete-to-CI/plastic transitions
  • Two 300-series stainless steel clamps, corrosion resistant
  • Leak-proof, root-proof, resistant to chemicals and sewer gases
  • Connects same or different pipe sizes and materials
  • Made in the USA — sizes 15″ and below are AIS and BABA compliant

Best Used For

  • Tying new cast iron or plastic into existing concrete sewer pipe
  • Concrete sewer main and lateral repairs
  • Transitions where concrete OD doesn’t match the new pipe
  • Any sewer or drain joint needing a fast, code-compliant seal

FAQ

How are the sizes listed?

Concrete side first, cast iron/plastic side second — for example, 6″ Concrete × 4″ connects 6″ concrete pipe to 4″ CI or plastic.

What does it connect?

Concrete pipe to cast iron, plastic, or steel. For a buried joint under heavy load or shear, step up to the 1006RC Strong Back shielded version.

Can it go underground?

Yes — rated for below-ground sewer and drain use, conforming to ASTM C1173, ASTM D5926 and CSA B602.

Why Contractors Choose This

  • Sized right for concrete OD — no shimming or guesswork
  • One fitting transitions concrete to almost any modern pipe
  • No primers, glue or cure time
  • Code-compliant: ASTM C1173, D5926, CSA B602
