How do I select the right Apollo relief valve?

Match the valve's BTU rating to the appliance output (water heater, boiler), and match the set pressure to the appliance's maximum working pressure. The relief valve set pressure must not exceed the appliance's rated pressure. For water heaters, the standard is 150 psi set pressure with BTU rating equal to or greater than the heater input.

How often should safety relief valves be replaced?

Industry standard and most manufacturer recommendations call for replacement every 3-5 years on water heaters, or immediately if the valve shows signs of weeping, corrosion, or has been manually operated. Never test a relief valve by lifting the lever on an older valve — replace it.

Are these ASME certified?

Yes. Apollo 10 Series is ASME Section IV certified for hot water heating service. Apollo 19 Series carries both ASME Section I (steam) and Section VIII (air/gas) certifications. Certification codes are stamped on the valve nameplate.
