High Demand Item – Frequently Reordered by Contractors
Solution 20 is a low-viscosity, single-component anaerobic retaining compound for cylindrical assemblies. It cures in the absence of air in the gap between close-fitting metal parts to bond bearings, bushings, collars, keys, and splines – transmitting load across the full joint and locking the parts against vibration, fretting, and movement.
Its low viscosity and gap fill to 0.005″ let you specify slip fits in place of machined press fits, simplifying assembly while keeping a high-strength bond. Supplied as a green liquid in 10 ml, 50 ml, and 250 ml bottles, plus a 1-liter jug.
Applications
- Retaining bearings, bushings, and sleeves onto shafts or into housings
- Securing collars, keys, splines, and pulleys
- Replacing or augmenting press and shrink fits with slip fits
- Restoring fit to worn or undersized cylindrical joints (to 0.005″)
- Preventing fretting, corrosion, and movement between mated metal parts
Key Features
- High-strength bond for slip-fit cylindrical assemblies
- Low viscosity for close-fitting joints; gap fill to 0.005″
- Anaerobic cure – sets only in the gap, with no air
- Transmits load across the full joint and resists fretting
- Green single-component liquid – no mixing
- Meets MIL-R-46082B, Type I

FAQ
What does a retaining compound do?
It bonds non-threaded cylindrical parts – like a bearing on a shaft – filling the gap and locking them together to transmit load and resist movement.
Can I use it instead of a press fit?
Yes. With gap fill to 0.005″, it lets you use slip fits in place of press or shrink fits.
How strong is the bond?
It’s a high-strength grade – disassembly typically requires heat.
Does it meet a military spec?
Yes – MIL-R-46082B, Type I.
